ARARAT police arrested 12 people after a series of drug raids in the city last week.
Ararat police Senior Constable Liam McMahon said the operation brought several investigations to a close.
"The reason we did it is because we had enough information gathered from members of the public which allowed us to use that information to target specific people believed to be the offenders," he said.
Sen Constable McMahon said Ararat police executed 10 search warrants which led to 12 arrests for a range of offences.
"Seven people were arrested during the drug and property raids which also netted one man for serious assault and another person for handling stolen goods," he said.
"A large quantity of alleged green vegetable matter and white powders were seized after police dogs were used to identify the drugs."
Sen Constable McMahon said police also targeted Ararat drivers.
"Police issued nine penalty notices and four vehicles were classified as unroadworthy," he said.
"Stolen property was also recovered after a large burglary in Ararat.
"Five males ranging from 20 to 39 years of age and a 41-year-old female were all charged and bailed to appear at Ararat Magistrate's Court on August 18.
"A 30-year-old male was released after an interview in relation to assaults and investigations are continuing."
Ararat and Stawell Detective Senior Constable Shane Evans said the operation recovered computer equipment and electrical goods in Gum San.
"Computer equipment, electrical goods were found but there are still some things missing," he said.
"A TV, VCR, and DVD combo as well as a phone and some other items are still missing.
"Last Wednesday two arrests were made in relation to that."
Sen Constable McMahon said the operation was a success.
"I don't think this says anything about the culture in Ararat, I would say probably all the small towns have similar problems," he said.
"We are just trying to make Ararat a safer place to live and we are doing that by removing drugs and anti-social activity."
Sen Constable McMahon said Ararat police would carry out another similar operation in the future.
