NORTH Central and Mallee football leagues have selected a preliminary interleague squad to take on Yarra Valley Mountain District league at St Arnaud on May 31.
Thirty-three players have been selected from North Central, joining 20 from Mallee.
North Central-Mallee coach Marc Adams said the two squads ensured a strong team to take on Yarra Valley.
"The Mallee squad is as strong as it has ever been in the few years we have done this," Adams said.
"North Central has been hit by a few injuries to key players from previous years, but we have some really good players there who will cover them.
"Brett Jeffreys from the Diamond Valley, he will be a big key. We have Ross Funcke and James Burke who have represented Vic Country and Glenn Wyatt as well.
"We have some pretty handy players in the squads."
Adams said he had received a solid response from the players.
"Everyone has been really keen so far, hopefully that will continue as we get closer to the game," he said.
Adams said the squad would be trimmed to 30 on Sunday, before a final training run on May 29 at St Arnaud where the team would be picked.
