Tiger coach Price keen to stay in den

NHILL coach Joel Price has signalled his intentions to remain at the football club next season as it continues to surge towards an unlikely finals berth, but the club is yet to commit.

Price was signed by the Tigers late in the pre-season from Ainslie in the AFL Canberra competition, while he had also played with Yarrawonga in the Ovens and Murray Football League and with North Adelaide in the SANFL.

Price said he was keen to talk with the club about their future.

"We haven't spoken about it yet, but hopefully it is something that we will sit down in the next week or so and discuss," Price said.

"I would certainly like to stay."

He said the late appointment had been a major reason for the Tigers' slow start to the year.

"Myself coming on late, and then the lack of a pre-season really hurt us early," he said.

"But the last month has been great, the boys have worked really hard and it is good to see them getting rewarded for it now."

Nhill president Brian Smith said Price was in the mix for the role, but they would explore all avenues in the best interests of the club.

"We have not reappointed anyone, but we are looking to make a decision on our coaching positions in the short term future," Smith said.

Smith said the club had been happy with Price's performance.

"Obviously at the end of the season they have been able to get it together," he said.

"We had a slow start, but that was expected because we were late in appointing Joel."

He said the club would be looking to appoint a coach before the end of the finals series.

Smith said it was exciting times at the football club.

The Tigers are now in serious senior finals contention.

"It is pretty exciting, we have possibly three teams set to contest finals in football, with our reserves and thirds definitely in," Smith said.

"In the netball we have three teams in with 15A, 15B, and under-17, and hopefully four if A Grade can make it."
