THE region's best junior footballers will contest the Wimmera All Star Carnival on Sunday.
More than 240 juniors will play at under-16 and under-14 level during the carnival.
Wimmera, Horsham District, Mallee and Kowree-Naracoorte-Tatiara leagues will field teams.
Wimmera region AFL development officer Geoff Burdett said the carnival was like playing interleague for the young Wimmera players.
"They benefit from playing at that next level from junior football. It is a good chance for us to identify up-and- coming players for our under-15, under-16 and under-17 programs," Burdett said.
He said KNTFL won both competitions last year.
He said each team would play four games of two 15-minute halves with players taking part in a life training program between the matches.
Former Richmond player Andrew Kellaway and Victorian Country Football League north west area manager Bruce Petering would run the V-Line sponsored program, which aims to educate on health, alcohol, drugs, isolation, depression and suicide.
Under-14 games at Coughlin Park and under-16 matches at Horsham City Oval will start from 9am on Sunday.
