Early tip for the Hornets

20/08/2008 11:46:00 AM
HORSHAM Amateur Basketball Association will not pre- sell tickets to game two of the Big V basketball league grand final on Saturday night.

The Horsham Hornets are up 1-0 in the best of three series and can win the division three championship if they win the game.

Association president Matt Kennedy said supporters would have to get to the game early to avoid missing out.

"We are expecting a sell-out for the match, but we will not reserve or pre-sell tickets because it has caused too many problems in the past," Kennedy said.

He said the stadium would be open from about 6.15pm on the night.

"I would encourage people to get to the stadium early," Kennedy said.

"If we have a full house at 7.30pm then we will shut the doors."

Kennedy said tickets would cost $5 a person or $20 for a family.

The Hornets are continuing their preparation for the big match and expect to have a full side.

Leading scorer Liam Norton played on an injured ankle in game one and scored 18 points.

Team leaders expect him to be at full fitness in game two.

Teenage forward Mitch Creek is the only remaining injury concern for the Hornets.

Creek clashed heads with a McKinnon player in game one and had a sore cheekbone but he is also expected to play.

The grand final tips off at 7.30pm on Saturday.

A McKinnon victory will send the grand final series into a game three decider from 2pm on Sunday.

Special feature

THE Wimmera Mail-Times will have a full preview of the Big V grand final in a special Go Horsham Hornets feature in Friday's edition.
