A STELLAR first and final quarter set up a Warrack Eagles win over Horsham Saints in round 13 on Saturday.
The Eagles swooped on early opportunities and finished the first term with a 12-goal lead.
A 14-goal final term sealed a 21-goal win for the Eagles at Coughlin Park.
"That first quarter really set the game up for us. The last quarter we came home really strong. We were happy with our first and last quarters," Eagle Sarah Koschitzke said.
She said goal attack Megan Hewitt should return from injury this weekend.
Ellie Baxter has teamed with Siubhan McKenzie in goals in Hewitt's absence.
The division between the top four and the bottom five A Grade teams continues to grow.
"We had tight games with Stawell and United as well," Koschitzke said.
"I think it's about match-ups on the day. It doesn't feel as divided as it looks on the ladder."
Emma Koschitzke was strong for the Eagles while Ebony Baker and Zeena Kelm were gallant for the Saints.
Dimboola pushed but could not topple Horsham United.
Wet and wintery conditions forced the match into an indoor stadium at Dimboola.
Scores were level at times but the Diggers prevailed by six goals.
Katie McKinnon rebounded well for the Diggers while Caitlin Story was accurate in goals.
Talia Kruger and Grace Braithwaite were consistent for the Roos.
Stawell rebounded from a narrow loss to Nhill last round to beat Horsham by 16 goals at Horsham City Oval.
The win completed a great day for the Warriors with their senior football team beating reigning premier Horsham in a nailbiting clash.
Maria Flood and Kelsey Weight were effective for the Warriors, while Cassie Kelly and Pieta Rissmann were best for Demons.
Ladder leader Ararat belted Minyip-Murtoa by 60 goals.
Rats coach Megan Shea was outstanding in the goal circle while Jade Fiscalini and Jessica Higgins were strong in defence.
Courtney Gerdtz and Lisa Clark fought hard for the Burras.
Nhill had a bye.
